Quality Early Care & Education

Early care and education can take place in a variety of settings.  It is not uncommon for a young child to experience a combination of home, family, center-based and home-based care in their early years.  Regardless of the setting, the quality of a child’s environment plays a key role in his or her development.

Our SB6 initiative addresses the need for increased Quality Early Care and Education, as professional training for early childhood employees has been proven to have a positive impact on outcomes for children in areas of language and other developmental milestones, quality child care, and child safety:

  • Raising awareness of the need for quality child care programs
  • Educating parents about the importance of quality child care and preschool experiences for their children
  • Ensuring access to quality child care and preschool opportunities and positive transition to kindergarten for all children
  • Supporting professional training and development of early care professionals
  • Providing interventions for children with barriers to traditional learning
