Help Needed from Lower Bucks Businesses

Operation Helping Hand (OHH) is the longest continuously operating food drive in Bucks County. We are officially celebrating 60 years of serving Bucks County.

We have a lot to celebrate. We have a new sponsor: Inspire Federal Credit Union; a new partner: Bucks County Opportunity Council’s Adopt A Pantry; and a new goal: to collect 65,000 lbs of nutritious food.

We’re thrilled to announce that literally every school district in Bucks County – plus dozens of local businesses – will be part of this project.

School-wide collections will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Be sure to contact your child’s school to confirm that they are participating. If you need information about school drives, contact Danielle Bush at danielleb@uwbucks.org.

It’s a great year for OHH — but we do have a challenge. We do not have enough businesses in Lower Bucks participating. Operation Helping Hand is a hyper-local drive. That means that food always goes to the pantry closest to the collection site.

Lots of businesses in Central and Upper Bucks have stepped up, but we still need help in Lower Bucks.

It’s easy to help. You will set your own food drive dates. Most people run drives for 1 – 2 weeks. All food will be picked up from your site on Thursday, March 10, 2016.

You can also donate to OHH online. Your local pantry will use the money to purchase the food they need most. Donate online (be sure to select Operation Helping Hand as your impact area) or mail a check to UW Bucks, 413 Hood Blvd., Fairless Hills, PA 19030. Don’t forget to put “Operation Helping Hand” in the memo line.
