New Summer Internship Program Opens at UW Bucks

United Way of Bucks County (UWBC) is inviting college students in Bucks County to use their leadership skills, commitment to service, and communication skills to help achieve measurable, lasting change in our community this summer.   Our mission is “to improve lives by mobilizing the power of communities.”  In short, we bring people together for the greater good, focusing on access to education, income, and health in Bucks County.  We believe that when we help one person succeed, the whole community is better off.

Commitment to our Intern’s Professional Development: An Innovative 10-Week Training Program
In addition to improving the lives of our UWBC community members, we are committed to improving the lives of – and opportunities for – our interns by providing a valuable Professional Development experience during our Internship program.

At UWBC, we have created the Ultimate Workplace for Building your Career.  We offer our interns a Professional Development 10-Week Training Program as part of the Internship that provides interns with the opportunity to learn about all facets of nonprofit management and to develop their own professional profiles throughout the 10-weeks. The Training Program includes development of the following: social media and LinkedIn profiles, a network of nonprofit and professional leaders, a resume and professional writing integrating their work experience, a portfolio of work completed, and a professional reference.

The Internship Program runs for 10 weeks from Monday, June 3 to Friday, August 9, 2013.  Interns must be available all 10 weeks. They will work 15 -20 hours per week for 10 weeks to complete a total of 150 – 200 hours of work. This may require onsite and offsite work, and scheduling may be flexible.  However, all interns must be present for weekly professional development meetings each Monday afternoon.

This is a competitive program and a maximum of five (5) interns will be selected.  A stipend is available for all positions.

A complete internship announcement is available here:UW Bucks 2013 Internship .  If you have any questions, please email Marissa Christie, Senior Vice President of Marketing, at marissac@uwbucks.org or tweet her @mmchristie or @uwbucks.
