2007 UWBC Loaned Executive Program

Something amazing happens when people reach out to help others.
They often find that in giving, they also get a lot in return.
Those who participate are in for the experience of a lifetime-
a rewarding opportunity that combines the best in training
with personal and professional growth and fulfillment
that comes with helping others.

What is the Loaned Executive Program?

Loaned Executives work as full-time staff for United Way during the annual campaign for 14 weeks from mid-August through the end of November.

Loaned Executives work with volunteers and staff to manage employee campaigns in businesses large and small, government organizations, and professional firms. They organize employee rallies, train solicitors in businesses, make presentations to ask for donations, collect and submit donations, problem solve where necessary and make recommendations for future campaigns.

A five-day training program builds knowledge of the United Way and our community. Time is spent on team building, public speaking, fund-raising strategies, account management, sales and leadership skills and much more.

There are a number of Philadelphia area companies already participating the program, such as Bank of Gloucester County, Boeing, Campbell's Soup, Citizens Bank, Commerce Bank, Cooper Hospital, DaimlerChrysler/UAW, DuPont Company (headquarters), Exelon/PECO, Exxon/Mobile, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, FedEx, First Federal Savings of Bucks County, General Motors/Saturn Division/UAW, Hoeganaes Corp, Holman, IBM, Lockheed Martin, MBNA America, Oki Data Americas, Rohm and Haas, Rutgers University, Sony, UPS, Valero Refining, Vanguard, Virtua Health and Wilmington Trust Company.

Why is the Program Important ?

For United Way – our campaign depends on Loaned Executives to complement staff and volunteers. They are a crucial link that makes it possible for all campaigns, both public and private, to be successful in the workplace. Success in the workplace makes it possible to continually meet critical health and human services needs in Bucks County .

For the individual – Loaned Executives themselves have said it best:

“The Loaned Executive experience gave me the courage to set challenging goals and, more importantly, the skills to exceed those goals !! The team concept of the program makes hard work and success the norm. “

“As a Loaned Executive, I had the opportunity to speak in front of many employee groups: large and small, management and labor. This experience has improved my self-confidence and effectiveness as a presenter.”

“I found the Loaned Executive program provided me with many transferable skills and made me a more valuable employee at my company. For the company, and the individual, it’s equivalent to a concentrated, professional development program all within 3 months.”

For the employer – the opportunity to develop an employee with a unique combination of management and people skills while contributing to the good of the community.
