LYFT Awareness Teen Advisory Group

About the Teen Advisory Group

Purpose Statement: As a LYFT advisory subcommittee, youth ages twelve to eighteen will join together to form a youth driven prevention partnership to target underage drinking, substance abuse, anti-social behavior and peer networking. The group will participate in the development of effective mechanisms to mentor other youths in prevention efforts that promote safety and health.

Youth members will be represented at all Pennsbury LYFT coalition meetings and under the LYFT executive leadership direction. The teen group will be given opportunities to learn leadership skills in community service. Members will be given training in primary prevention and health promotion to influence peers. Through team building and collaboration, teens will explore issues, share experiences and identify factors that increase teens’ risk for underage drinking, substance abuse and anti-social behavior. As volunteer leaders, members will design outreach strategies, events and activities to help other students resist peer pressure to drink, use drugs and engage in high risk behaviors. Members will engage in fundraising activities and events for promotional materials and to offset attendance costs for educational/training conferences through the year.

Meetings: The next Teen Advisory Group meeting will be Monday August 10th. Visit the Calendar page to view all upcoming meetings.
