A new award was developed this year for youth. We asked for essays from students in Bucks County on "Why is volunteering associated with Martin Luther King Day". So many wonderful essays were submitted, but only one from each level could win.  Our High School winner, Sara Stout, 12th Grade student from Central Bucks West High School, Marissa Cubbage, 8th Grade student from Strayer Middle School, and Ryan Day, 4th Grade student from M. M. Seylar Elementary School.

YOUTH ENGAGEMENT - LIVING UNITED

 Robert Scordia

Robert Scordia called our office with an idea for his Eagle Scout Project.  He asked us if he learned to fix up used bikes would we know of any kids who could use them?  We, of course, said YES!

Rob learned how to repair these bikes and fixed them up to look like new.  He arrived at the UWBC office with 2 pickup truck loads of bikes that went to kids in Bristol Township and Bristol Borough.

Jordan StokesJordan Stokes called the UWBC office wanting to get involved with a program he saw on TV -- a project called "Stuff the Bus".  Jordan reached out to his neighbors explaining about kids not having back to school supplies and if they left their donations on their front porch, he would pick them up.  Well, Jordan filled his Mom's car full of supplies and brought them into the UWBC office.  The entire staff was blown away by his achievement.  After that Jordan was already looking for another project.  He asked his team members to a party and told them to bring a gift for a kid in need.  Again, Jordan blew us away with the amount of toys and sporting equipment he brought to the office.  We are so proud to know Jordan and his family.
