WHY THIS FUND IS IMPORTANT:
The extended and deep recession has had an extraordinary effect not only on those who typically are seen as “needy”, but also on those who would never have considered asking for help, much less receiving it from the social service system.

In the face of increased demand for services, the issue is compounded by decreased private sector donations, which has further strained vital human service delivery systems.

Responding to the need:

A special Task Force has been created to identify particularly wide gaps in resources for “safety net” services.  The Task Force will then offer a Community Challenge Match of $35,000 with the goal of securing over $70,000 to be immediately invested in food pantries, credit counseling programs and other safety net services.
