PECO Volunteers Bring Service, Support, and Opportunity to the HELP Center

At United Way of Bucks County’s HELP Center, partnerships come to life when organizations show up with both heart and action. Recently, the PECO team did exactly that.

PECO volunteers spent the day supporting the everyday work that keeps the HELP Center running — organizing supplies, assisting with operations, and helping ensure our space remains welcoming and efficient for neighbors navigating challenging moments. Their hands-on service directly supports individuals and families working toward stability.

But what made this visit especially meaningful was that PECO brought more than volunteer hours. They brought knowledge, resources, and real opportunities directly to the community.

Connecting People to Real Support

Alongside volunteering, PECO representatives hosted informational tables to answer questions about utility bills and share resources designed to ease financial pressure. They provided guidance on energy assistance programs such as LIHEAP grants and the Customer Assistance Program, which can help eligible households manage energy costs with more predictable monthly payments.

As Carniesha Kwashie, Director of Corporate Community Impact at PECO, shared:

“It’s really important to us that we connect people to opportunities. Yes, we help make utility bills more affordable, but we’re also promoting workforce programs, education, and access so people have long-term stability.”

Having trusted experts onsite allowed community members to ask questions openly, better understand their options, and leave with clear next steps.

Building Pathways to the Future

In addition to immediate assistance, PECO highlighted workforce development initiatives that open doors to stable, family-sustaining careers. These programs focus on education, job readiness, training opportunities, and STEM exposure for both youth and adults exploring new career paths.

Kwashie emphasized the deeper motivation behind this work:

“You never know what people are going through, but if you can provide hope and help people keep faith in humanity, that’s a gift and a privilege.”

That perspective closely reflects the mission of the HELP Center: meeting urgent needs today while helping individuals and families build long-term financial security.

Partnership That Creates Lasting Impact

This volunteer visit demonstrates the power of strong community partnerships. Practical service. Accessible information. Meaningful opportunity. When organizations invest both their time and their expertise, the impact extends far beyond a single day.

We are grateful for PECO’s continued commitment to Bucks County residents and for their partnership in strengthening the communities we share.
