Kids Need You: Stuff the Bus

Some of you may have read Phil Gianficaro’s column titled Fill a Backpack to Lighten Kids’ Load in the Intelligencer.

He put it better than we ever could, but here are the facts: In Bucks County, 16% of kids struggle to have their basic needs met. For these kids, things we may consider ‘basics’ – like back to school supplies – can be hard to come by.

That’s why we need you to help Stuff the Bus. In partnership with nonprofits like YWCA, Catholic Social Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County, Bucks County Housing Group, and Cradles to Crayons, we provide (literally) thousands of backpacks complete with all needed back to school supplies for kids in need. Kids from every single school district in Bucks County receive help.

In 2016, our donors and volunteers provided 2,138 kids in need with backpacks stuffed with school supplies. This year, we expect over 2,200 requests from nonprofits, school districts, and families.

We believe it’s critically important for ALL kids to start the school year with the right supplies. That’s why we need your help with Stuff the Bus.

There are a few ways that you can help STUFF THE BUS!

  • Donate online: A backpack filled with required school supplies costs about $35 per child, but all donations are welcome!
  • Mail a check to: United Way at 413 Hood Blvd, Fairless Hills, PA 19030 with”Stuff the Bus” in the memo line.
  • Bring your donation of NEW school supplies to any of the STB collection sites on Monday 8/14 or Tuesday 8/15.
