CLOSING GAPS. CREATING OPPORTUNITIES.

Katelyn’s voice trembled on the phone the first time we spoke to her. Her 4-year-old son, Liam, has developmental delays. She couldn’t find Pre-K that could accommodate his needs, her long shifts – and their limited budget. The single mom was missing work and about to lose her job in healthcare. “My kids are my world,” she said. “I am failing them.”

Our early education team immediately enrolled Liam in our free Pre-K Counts program. He’s in a high-quality site close to home and thriving.

Katelyn also visited our HELP Center to shop for family essentials, all brand new and free of charge. The money she saved was enough to get caught up on rent. “I feel like I can finally catch my breath,” she said.

Her next goal is to join our LIFT United program. After some financial skill-building, she will be able to swap her current high-interest car loan for a low-interest one secured by United Way of Bucks County.

When you give to our Community Support Campaign, you ensure that we can close gaps and create opportunities for families like Katelyn’s.

When families don’t have access to affordable early education and care, it impacts the child, the parents, and our entire local economy. We offer hyper-local community-based options like Pre-K Counts and private Pre-K scholarships, covering most or all of the family’s costs. Kids get on a path to academic success, parents get to work, and our entire community benefits.

Your gift of $1,500 provides a Pre-K scholarship, giving a child access to quality early education and their parents the ability to work.

When families struggle to make ends meet, healthy food is almost always the first thing to go. Unfortunately, that can cause long-term health issues, particularly for children and folks with chronic illnesses. We build sustainable programs like Fresh Connect and Bucks Knocks Out Hunger to provide nutritious food – and nutrition education – year-round and county-wide.

Your gift of $250 delivers fresh produce to 10 local families – including children and seniors – so they are fed today and healthy tomorrow.

About 27% of Bucks County is ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). ALICE, overwhelmingly our front-line workers, earns too much to qualify for assistance from most programs, yet not enough for unexpected expenses. We step in to support these families during emergencies so short-term challenges don’t spiral out of control.

Your gift of $750 provides one-time financial assistance with rent or transportation so hard-working families can remain stably housed and employed.
