Bucks County Kids: Unite to Fight Hunger!

Calling all kids across Bucks County! If you want to be a contender in the fight against food insecurity here in our community, the United Way of Bucks County can help you go the distance.

Kids United, BKO Hunger’s largest donor last year, has created an online toolkit to help kids and their families easily start their own fundraising effort.

The kit includes statistics about hunger and poverty, information about nutrition and the BKO initiative, and a plan for participating and raising money. In addition, there are templates for canister wrappers, canister drop off notes, logos, mailers, and table signs.

“Sometimes the barrier between desire and action is having the right plan,” said David M. Hall, Kids United Chair. “Our toolkit is full of information and different ways to get involved so participants can choose the methods that work best for them.”

BKO Hunger 2014 will conclude with a one-day meal packing event on Friday, June 20, 2014. All contributions to the project must be made by this date. However, if a Kids United team turns in their contribution the week before, it will make planning for the project easier.

Kids are welcome to participate in any way they choose. Each dollar raised will supply four pre-packed, shelf-stable meals. However, the United Way of Bucks County and the Kids United Committee will recognize kids who go above and beyond in addressing food insecurity.

Whether you are a flyweight or a heavyweight, you can throw your hat in the ring and be a hero.
