Ms. Pennsylvania Plus Supports Healthy Body Image for Girls in Bucks County

Jackie Breault, who was recently crowned Ms. Pennsylvania Plus 2014, is an awesome advocate for girls in Bucks County. This spring, she hosted an Event in a Box to support Bucks County Women’s Initiative’s mission of helping girls grow into strong, healthy women.

An Event in A Box is a planning tool kit put together by BCWI, with ideas for events that help foster a healthy mind, body or spirit. A host chooses an idea, plans and executes it, and invites others from their community to participate. These events function as both fundraising and awareness-raising events.

Jackie hosted an event that focused on the importance of a healthy body. She had almost 40 participants of all ages, and plenty of activities to keep them busy. Guests participated in Zumba classes, yoga, and a safety seminar. They also enjoyed free massages, handcials and skin care demos. Healthy refreshments were provided, as well as nutritional advice.

Jackie aims to bring mothers and daughters together with her events. They get to spend time with each other in a fun environment, while building healthy habits.

“It was a great night, and I received so much possible feedback. A group of girls even asked if I could do it every Friday night!” said Jackie. She had assistance from both her father and brother in hosting the event. “They are very supportive and helpful in my endeavors,” she explained of her Men’s Auxiliary members.

Jackie’s not alone in helping girls become strong women here in Bucks County. Dawn Haaz, of Associates for Counseling & Educational Services, LLC, also hosted an event for BCWI. She utilized her experience as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant to hold a pampering session using a new line of botanical products.

She was able to share with other women both great products as well as her enthusiasm for the Women’s Initiative.  Dawn donated a percentage of her sales from this pampering session as well as her other customers’ orders in the month of May to Central Bucks YMCA’s Empower U program.

A huge thanks to Jackie, Dawn and everyone who has helped make a difference in the lives of Bucks County girls. Want to get involved in BCWI?
