Unique Film Festival LUNAFEST Supports Women

Bucks County Women’s Initiative, an affiliate group of the United Way of Bucks County, is hosting LUNAFEST, a film festival, to raise money for its 2015 programs – and it’s less than two weeks away!

LUNAFEST is a series of nine short films by female filmmakers, ranging from animation to fictional drama. The films cover subjects such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, cultural diversity, and breaking barriers. It will be held at Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope at 7 PM on Wednesday, October 15.

LUNAFEST will be in Bucks County for one night only, and is among just 150 screenings nationwide this year. Tickets to this unique event are just $20, plus a $2.25 restoration fee for BCP.

This festival showcases women filmmakers in an industry where men are an overwhelming majority. In Hollywood, females make up just 5% of directors. Showing these nine films by women not only empower the directors, but compel discussion of equality and girl power.

Proceeds from the event will support BCWI’s programs to help Bucks County girls become strong women through mind, body and spirit, as well as to the Breast Cancer Fund.

Tickets are available by calling UW Bucks at 215-949-1660, or online at www.uwbucks.org/lunafest.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Heidi Phillips at heidip@uwbucks.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
