United Way Seeks Holiday Support for Local Teens in Need

United Way of Bucks County is asking community members to help brighten the holidays for older kids in need this year.

The nonprofit is kicking off its annual Holiday Gift Card Drive now through December 16th. The initiative provides gifts for children who are too old for conventional toy drives. This year, the United Way expects to serve kids in every single zip code in Bucks County – a total of about 2,000 young people.

“When money is tight around the holidays – as it will be for many local families this year – there are very few options for teens and tweens,” says Marissa Christie, President & CEO at United Way of Bucks County. “Supporting our Holiday Gift Card Drive ensures that every kid has a bright holiday – and most importantly, doesn’t feel alone.”

Christie also notes that donations to the drive can be made in honor of a loved one. “This is the perfect gift for that person on your list who has everything, including a big heart,” says Christie. “We’ll send the person you are honoring a special holiday card explaining the impact of your gift.”

UW Bucks emphasizes that making a direct donation is the most effective way for community members to help. Online donations allow the nonprofit to purchase more gift cards in bulk at a discount – and that means being able to help more kids.

Donations can be made online at www.uwbucks.org/giftcarddrive or by check, mailed to United Way of Bucks County at 413 Hood Blvd, Fairless Hills, PA 19030, with Gift Card Drive written in the memo line.

The Holiday Gift Card Drive is sponsored by L3 Harris and media sponsor Levittown Now.
