Vole Revealed: Matt Uhler

The buzz about #BKOHunger on social media has been enormous. Hundreds of tweets, posts and blogs have been posted and now the day is here! Much of the twitter activity was fueled on by a little guy with a big plan: the vole who wanted to get Bucks Knocks Out Hunger to their fundraising goal of $36,000.

This anonymous rodent had plenty to say about Bucks Knocks Out Hunger over the past few weeks:

“Already donated to #BKOHunger? Consider giving another $5 today, mention VOLE, and BCVole will add a $1 donation #MakeTheVolePay”

“ICYMI: I’m competing w/ @uwbucks interns to raise money for #BKOHunger. Donate at: https://uwbucks.wpengine.com/bkohunger/  Tell them Vole sent you”

“Big thanks to @uwbucks for getting a #BKOHunger cape for me. It’s a little long, but it works. pic.twitter.com/O5q7WoIeWc”

He exchanged tweets with UW Bucks CEO Jamie Haddon, BKO Project Manager Tim Philpot and various UW Bucks staff. The vole was a topic of many lunch table discussions, but the question remained: Who is this mysterious creature, so dedicated to knocking out hunger?

The mystery was solved at 7:30 this morning, as excited UW Bucks staff arrived at Ann’s Choice to set up for the event. Among them was our own Matt Uhler, sporting a white t-shirt that read “Vole” across the back.

So the secret’s out – Matt is the vole! What inspired his underground Twitter campaign?

“The account started because we were getting a social media intern and I needed to get caught up on how it all works. I chose a vole mostly to harass Tim, who was having trouble with voles in his garden.” But as animals were gaining so much attention on social media, the Vole started to make some noise.

He promoted vole-anthropy, donating a dollar for each online donation for one day during the BKO Hunger campaign. Now he’s here vole-unteering, packing meals alongside our hundreds of supporters. And after today, I’m sure he’ll continue to ad-vole-cate for those in need in Bucks County.

“Life underground has been tough,” Matt told me. “But I’m glad to be able to help out, and excited to be here knocking out hunger!”

Thanks for all you do, Matt “The Vole” Uhler.
