Volunteers Got Their Hands Dirty at Carversville Farm Foundation

On Saturday, October 12, a group of about 22 volunteers came out to Carversville Farm Foundation to help harvest sweet potatoes for our annual Fall Harvest Day.

Within two hours they successfully cleared 1/10 of an acre of sweet potatoes for the farmers at Carversville – that’s almost 500 pounds of produce! These sweet potatoes, along with other produce harvested by the farmers, will be distributed to food pantries and Fresh Connect sites throughout Bucks County.

Carversville Farm Foundation is a nonprofit farm that provides fresh and sustainable food to populations in need. They grow a wide variety of produce, livestock, turkey (just in time for Thanksgiving ;)), hay, bees, and much more that is all to be distributed through different programs in Bucks County, Philadelphia, and even New Jersey.

If you were not able to attend this year’s Harvest Day be sure to keep an eye out for next year’s harvest dates, or any other volunteer opportunities you may be interested in on our Facebook page
