Help Families recovering from the Covid-19 Pandemic Keep Food on their tables through Bucks Knocks Out Hunger

The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically increased the number of people in Bucks County who are struggling financially. While some have recovered, many working families are still trying to rebuild.

United Way of Bucks County’s Bucks Knocks Out Hunger campaign is here to help.

Bucks Knocks Out Hunger is community-driven, hunger fighting project that unites thousands of donors, advocates, and volunteers to fight hunger in Bucks County. It is a fundraiser for Bucks County’s food pantries and a way to provide food relief to families struggling to get back on their feet.

This food donation drive helps the local community with hunger relief and the fight for hunger prevention.

BKO Hunger will include a massive, county-wide food drive this year. On Friday, June 18th and Saturday, June 19th we will host five drive-through, no-contact food drop-off sites in Bucks County, gathering thousands of pounds of the foods people need most, and getting it to food pantries to distribute.

BKO also will raise funds to provide locally grown produce and fresh dairy products like milk, butter, and cheese – items which are not often donated to pantries.

Our goal for 2021 is to raise $100,000 for food assistance in Bucks County and to collect 30,000 lbs. of food.

Your neighbors have never needed you more. Help lift the burden of hunger so we can all rebuild.

To provide food donations or to take part in the food drive fundraiser, fill out the contact form below. Together we can work towards hunger relief with food donations.

NEED IN BUCKS COUNTY
Feeding America estimates that 30,000 additional residents of Bucks County became food-insecure in 2020 because of COVID-19. While some in Bucks County are recovering from the economic hardship brought on by the pandemic, the recovery is uneven. Many who were hardest hit were struggling even before the pandemic began. They include working families earning too much to qualify for public benefits, but not enough to cover all their bills. For them, the road to recovery is more challenging.

HOW DONATIONS ARE USED
All proceeds from BKO Hunger benefit people who are hungry or food insecure in Bucks County. Donations to the project will continue to fight hunger throughout the upcoming year.
  • $25,000 allows us to provide fresh produce to pantries and senior centers at an incredibly low cost. Our partner Rolling Harvest Food Rescue will use these funds to secure produce from small, sustainable farms in Bucks County.
  • $25,000 secures dairy products like milk, cheese, and butter, items that do not typically come in through food drives. This money helps pantries fill the gaps when they are critically low. Funds are distributed through the network of pantries by Bucks County Opportunity Council.
  • $20,000 will be allocated to support Fresh Connect mobile farm market.
  • $30,000 will support delivery of food and fresh produce to seniors and our most vulnerable residents.
