Local Philanthropists Offering $10K Match for United Way’s School Supply Drive

United Way of Bucks County is asking community members to help unlock a $10,000 matching gift opportunity from the Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund.

Local philanthropists Gene and Marlene Epstein are offering a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $10,000 through August 25th for United Way’s Stuff the Bus drive. As the largest back-to-school project in the community, Stuff the Bus serves over 3,000 students in need from every school district in Bucks County.

“Education is a pathway to a lifetime of financial stability and success,” said local philanthropist Gene Epstein. “By removing as many barriers as we can to learning, we’re giving kids a chance to create a bright future for themselves.”

The Epsteins are noted champions of education, recently donating 100 scholarships for local students to attend Bucks County Community College.

Currently, United Way of Bucks County has raised enough funds to serve about 90% of the kids on its Stuff the Bus list, but 327 are still waiting.

“This is an incredible opportunity for community members to double their impact on kids in need,” said Marissa Christie, President & CEO at United Way of Bucks County. “If we can secure this full match, we will serve every kid on our list. Not only that, but we’ll be able to keep our HELP Center fully stocked with supplies for the first week of school in case we get more requests.”

Donations can be made online at www.uwbucks.org/stuffthebus or by check, mailed to United Way of Bucks County at 413 Hood Blvd, Fairless Hills, PA 19030, with Stuff the Bus written in the memo line.

Stuff the Bus is presented by Univest and is sponsored by First National Bank & Trust of Newtown, Comcast, Dunmore, Foundations Community Partnership, L3Harris Technologies, and PECO.
