Holiday Gift Card Drive
Every year, hundreds of older kids and teens in Bucks County are completely forgotten during the holidays. Toy drives provide the right gifts for kids under 12, but not much for older siblings.
You can change that. Help make sure that ALL young people in Bucks County get at least one great, exciting gift this year by supporting our Holiday Gift Card Drive.
We are seeing an increased need. In 2015, we served over 450 kids through this program. This year, we have over 400 kids with true and verified needs on our waiting list.
How It Works
Now through December 16, we ask the public to provide gift cards – or donations to get gift cards – for local teens. Gifts of any amount will help and are deeply appreciated, but we do our best to make sure the average gift is $30 per child.
That provides a $25 gift card (e.g. Target, Walmart, clothing store, book store, movies) and an extra $5 gift card for food (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, etc.). Just $30 gives a young person the chance to hang out with friends, go shopping, and get something to eat. That’s a luxury these kids don’t normally have.
What Gift Cards Should I Get?
Target and Walmart are great choices. Other popular gift cards are for clothing (e.g. Abercrombie, Forever 21, Hollister, Wet Seal); food (e.g. Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, McDonald’s); and specialty shops (e.g. Barnes & Noble, Dick’s Sporting Goods).
Basically, any place you see teens shopping is great.
