We need volunteers to help us read our MLK Day of Service Essays!
More students than ever before have entered our Martin Luther King Day of Service Essay Contest! It’s very exciting – more than 600 students county-wide have taken the time to tell us why volunteering matters in our community.
And that’s where you come in: We need volunteers to help us read and score these essays. It’s super-easy – we promise! You will have a brief training, a scoring sheet, and all the support you need to make this a super-fun, rewarding volunteer experience.
Requirements: A college level understanding of reading, writing and/or editing is required.
Our Goal: Bring together enough awesome volunteers to read and score 600+ essays in just two hours! We need to figure out the top 10 in each category (elementary, middle, and high school) so they can go to our panel of professional writers.
What to bring: Reading glasses if you need them! We will provide pens, pencils, scoring sheets, plus a ‘continental breakfast’ (read: plenty of coffee, juice, bagels, and donuts).
Parking: The lot in front of our building is tiny! Please park in the public lot in front of Lake Caroline (there will be UW signs up so you know where to go).
Thank you for being a VOLUNTEER,
The team @UWBUCKS
